If wading and sight casting to double digit Bonefish, tailing Indo-Pacific Permit and a host of Trevally species on powder white sand flats on an extremely remote Indian Ocean atoll appeals to you then look no further, St Brandon’s Atoll is the destination for you. We are extremely excited to be offering back-to-back hosted weeks at this one of the world’s premiere flats fisheries. We have selected our weeks with tides that will suit both wade fishing to tailing bonefish and permit but also some opportunities at the very large GTs that call St Brandon’s home. There is a host of other species available including some of the biggest bluefin trevally around.

TRIP OVERVIEW

St Brandon’s (Cargados Carajos Shoals) is a group of over 50 small islands, coral ridges and vast sand flats that extends 50 km from north to south. Situated 268 nautical miles northeast of Mauritius’s main island this area is rich in fish stocks, flora and fauna. Guests will be accommodated in a simple but comfortable guesthouse on Raphael Island situated in the fish rich northern part of the atoll. This most certainly is the most spectacular bonefishing you will ever encounter and anglers can expect to see shoals of these shallow water speedsters as well as enormous singles and doubles. Over the past few seasons bonefish of up to 87cm fork length and weighing 15lbs have been landed.

One of the major draw cards of St Brandon’s is the superb permit fishery that is on offer. We have chosen a great set of tides that will allow us to pursue permit by wading the flats on the dropping tide. The last part of the pushing tide will then be fished around the landmasses and sand spits looking for tailing permit and trevally. This is one of the world’s prime destinations for wade fishing permit, one of angling’s greatest challenges.

During this time of year there is a very good chance of finding GTs on and around the flats. The GTs at St Brandon’s tend to be very large fish, they are not easy by any means but very rewarding if one is landed. Many 1 metre plus fish are landed every year.

As a multi-species wade fishery, St Brandon’s is one of the world’s best salt water destinations.
